What to Do When You're Afraid of Change
What to Do When You're Afraid of Change
Let’s be honest—change is terrifying.
Especially when you’ve tried everything before and it feels like nothing sticks.
You think:
🔸 What if I fail again?
🔸 What if I waste more time, more energy, more hope?
🔸 What if this is just another thing that doesn’t work for me?
But here’s the uncomfortable truth:
If nothing changes… nothing changes.
Staying stuck feels safe because it’s familiar.
But safety doesn’t equal satisfaction.
👉 You want more energy.
👉 You want to feel confident in your skin.
👉 You want to actually see results from all your effort.
So let’s talk about what to actually do when fear kicks in and you’re tempted to retreat into what you know—even if it’s not working.
1. Name the fear.
Write it down. Say it out loud. Call it what it is.
Fear thrives in silence. When you name it, you take its power away.
Example:
“I’m afraid I’ll fail again and feel even worse about myself.”
Boom. Now you know what you're working with.
2. Decide who you want to be.
Not what you want to weigh.
Not how fast you want to lose it.
Who. Do. You. Want. To. Be.
The mom who shows up for herself, even when it’s hard?
The woman who rewrites her story at 42, not gives up on it?
Start there.
3. Start small—but start.
Don’t overhaul everything. That’s what diets taught you.
And that’s why they didn’t work.
Instead:
✨ Make a high-protein breakfast.
✨ Go for a 10-minute walk.
✨ Choose one meal today that makes you feel good and nourished—not deprived.
Small moves. Big shifts.
4. Get support.
Change is hard. Doing it alone is harder.
Find people who won’t let you shrink back into your old patterns.
This is exactly what I help women over 40 do inside my coaching and my MomFit360 community.
We don’t do “all or nothing.”
We do “all in on YOU.”
Final Word:
Fear is normal. But it’s not the boss.
You don’t need more willpower.
You need a different approach—one rooted in real-life habits, not restriction.
If you’re scared of change, good.
That means it matters.
Now let’s move forward—one empowered choice at a time.
You in?
